Recently we noticed that there are frequent problems with logging into PayPal for payment on eBay. This is due to some localization problems on PayPal – this is a global problem and is seen by all users with non-US locale and location (not just the drop2amz users)

A few months ago, as soon as this problem was first noticed, we taught our Auto-Purchase to bypass this problem, but it still remains relevant for users who do not yet use our platform, and Auto-Purchasing in particular. Then, we decided to provide an opportunity to bypass this problem manually for other users (who aren’t using drop2amz)

The information below is only relevant if you are NOT using Auto-Purchase.

The Problem

The problem shows up when choosing a PayPal payment method when placing an order on eBay. When you click on the PayPal payment method, the PayPal login window opens. After entering the login-password and clicking Log In, the window “freezes” in the state of Checking Your Info …

Resolving the problem

To resolve the problem, you should force PayPal to preload some resources that they do not load on their own (for some reason) To do this, follow these steps:

  • As usual, choose PayPal payment method when placing an order on eBay

  • In the opened PayPal login window, open the JavaScript console (right-click on the window and select Inspect Code or Inspect Element in the context menu, or follow instructions similar to those in the Configuring Amazon Traffic Statistics Collection)

In the console that opens, copy and paste the following JavaScript lines (all together) and press Enter on the keyboard:

jQuery.getScript(‘https://www.paypalobjects.com/web/res/348/19bae99e25777258fca47531b95fd/templates/GROUPAEMEA/en/rememberMe.js’);

jQuery.getScript(‘https://www.paypalobjects.com/web/res/348/19bae99e25777258fca47531b95fd/templates/GROUPAEMEA/en/inc/form.js’);

jQuery.getScript(‘https://www.paypalobjects.com/web/res/348/19bae99e25777258fca47531b95fd/templates/GROUPAEMEA/en/inc/footer.js’);

jQuery.getScript(‘https://www.paypalobjects.com/web/res/348/19bae99e25777258fca47531b95fd/templates/GROUPAEMEA/en/inc/transitioning.js’);

jQuery.getScript(‘https://www.paypalobjects.com/web/res/348/19bae99e25777258fca47531b95fd/templates/GROUPAEMEA/en/inc/header.js’);

jQuery.getScript(‘https://www.paypalobjects.com/web/res/348/19bae99e25777258fca47531b95fd/templates/GROUPAEMEA/en/transition.js’);

  • Further, as usual, enter the login-password and click the Log In button – PayPal should successfully redirect you back to to the checkout page on eBay.

This will have to be done with every purchase, until PayPal fixes this on its side.
